Fall Is Here – Does My Skincare Routine Need to Change?

Of course, you will always have key products that you will use and love. Keep the staples and continue the regimen that works for you; however, with the change in seasons, especially heading into fall and winter, there are a few things that you can do to help your skin stay fresh and beautiful. Please read on for a few tricks of the trade...

  1. Shorten your showers. The longer your shower lasts, the more your essential oils are washed away from your body that help to moisturize and protect. Stick to shorter and more luke-warm showers when the weather gets colder. If you are absolutely craving that hot bath or shower, just make sure to try and replace the oils and moisture that you can by having good quality products.
  2. Hydrate Consistently – Beyond drinking an adequate amount of water daily, invest in a moisturizer that will help soothe and protect dry and chapped skin. Renu Laser and Skin Care can help you to find a great moisturizer that meets your needs, and fits within your skincare budget. In addition to a daily facial moisturizer, you will also want to look into a good under-eye moisturizer/eye cream. Don’t forget about that neck/chest and body, as well (that skin can, and will age, too).
  3. Up your exfoliation routine – As weather continues to get cooler and skin becomes drier, your body will kick into overdrive and production of oils to replenish skin. This excessive oil production can lead to clogged pores. It is important to keep your skin exfoliated to clear pores. A few of many great products include an enzyme masque, glycolic acid, or actual exfoliant. Some people may even decide to turn to a chemical peel to remove outer dead layers of skin. My two favorite exfoliants include the IMAGE Vital C Hydrating Enzyme Masque, as well as the Glytone Glycolic Acid Lotion. Both are for sale at Renu Laser and Skin Care.
  4. Don’t forget about your lips. Your lips are the only area of skin that does not have oil glands or pores. Furthermore, they can become dry VERY QUICKLY, especially in the colder months. Be sure to use Chapstick regularly to ensure that they do not dry out, and you can also periodically use a gentle exfoliant to remove the dead skin cells.
  5. Its colder, but the sun is still there (even through all those fall clouds) and will easily age your skin. Continue to wear your daily sunscreen!
